There is a homelessness issue within Chattanooga due to multiple factors such as unaffordable housing, domestic violence, and many others. There are currently multiple non-profit organizations in Chattanooga actively working to address the issue of homelessness, such as The Chatt Foundation, Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition among others. With such collaboration and dedication, there's great potential for making meaningful progress in combating homelessness. “4,000 individuals experience homelessness each year in Chattanooga, with over 1,000 homeless children in public schools” (The Chatt Foundation). Mayor Tim Kelly’s announcement of a 40% reduction in homelessness in the previous year is indeed positive news. It indicates that efforts to address homelessness are making an impact, and it’s important to continue building on this momentum we can keep reducing the amount of chronic homelessness through the initiatives we want to put into place, hopefully with partners who have the same vision in mind. The initiatives we have in mind include partnering with the already existing programs that are helping with homelessness and reaching out to the local businesses that are affected by this crisis to get them involved in solving it.
